Katie’s Story
Rain Trees International Kindergarten Is a family-owned school owned and directed by Katie Terry. Katie has worked in early years education for over 30 years, over 28 of those years in Singapore, whilst raising her three children with husband Hugh.
When Katie first set up Rain Tees, she did so as a mother who wanted something more for children, somewhere they would be truly seen, supported and encouraged to grow in their own time and way. She wanted a place where childhood was protected, curiosity celebrated, and kindness at the centre of it all. But, also, somewhere children would thrive and reach their full potential with confidence, not in a faceless ‘corporate’ pre-school.
Now her own children are forging their own careers: one is studying medicine at University College, London and another is studying chemical engineering & bio-technology at Cambridge. Her eldest child is a physiotherapist and recent graduate of Kings College London.
Katie’s ethos has shaped her own children and everything we do at Rain Trees.
Rain Trees is led from the front by Principal Rohini Ramadas, whose own daughter studied Law at Oxford and is now a human rights lawyer in New York . Both Rohini’s and Katie’s approach is deep in the fabric of the school.
The school’s approach to teaching helps every child express themselves, to ’learn how to learn’ and flourish in their own way.
There is overwhelming evidence that Early Years education presents a small window of opportunity to lay the foundations for every child to reach their full potential later on in life. Rain Trees is dedicated to providing the best solution in Singapore for Early Years Education.
